Has Anybody Ordered Impeachment?
Everyone’s talking about the process of Trump’s possible impeachment. Social Media even forgot about the 74th session of the UN General Assembly when Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, in a television statement announced the start of an official investigation into the impeachment of Donald Trump, the 45th president of the United States. But why democrats are talking about Ukraine and their new president Vladimir Zelensky? Why Donald Trump is looking for incriminating evidence from the person who became president just five months ago? Let’s see what’s going on.
Representatives of the Democratic Party have repeatedly talked about the possibility of impeachment of President Trump, but this thing never reached the start of formal procedures. Pelosi herself previously indicated that impeachment is a very serious and undesirable process that splits society. It was the Ukrainian scandal that most likely played a role in the decision of the Democrats to launch the impeachment procedure. Before Trump’s whistleblower appeared in a public field, Democrats in Congress opposed impeachment. But now the party leadership is in favor of such a decision.
The interest of Trump and his entourage in the work of Joseph Biden and his son Hunter in the Ukrainian direction has been reported for a long time. Trump's lawyer Rudolf Giuliani spoke of the need to investigate the activities of Biden Jr. While Biden Sr. served as US Vice President from 2009 to 2017 and developed U.S. ties with Ukraine, his son Hunter served on the board of directors of Burisma Holdings, the largest private gas producer in Ukraine, from 2014 to 2019. During the work, Biden Sr. could demand from the then President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko to dismiss Attorney General Viktor Shokin, since the Attorney General's Office was conducting several cases against Burisma at the time, Trump’s associates believe. Giuliani in July met with Presidential Aide Andrei Yermak in Madrid. There were two issues of interest to Trump that were discussed at the meeting. The first of them concerned whether Kyiv tried to impede the Trump campaign during the US elections in 2016, and the second concerned the possible influence of Biden Sr. in Ukraine.
The head of the House’s Foreign Affairs Committees, Eliot Engel, Adam Schiff’s Intelligence and Oversight and Reform Committee, Ilia Cummings, last week asked the White House and the US State Department to provide documents related to Trump and Giuliani’s attempts to manipulate the Ukrainian justice system, to help re-elect the president and possibly discredit a political opponent. Their letter stated that for almost two years, the president and his lawyer Rudi Giuliani acted outside the legal law enforcement and diplomatic channels to force the Ukrainian government to conduct politically motivated investigations under the guise of anti-corruption activities.
Anyway, impeachment is a deeply bureaucratic process that needs a lot of time, efforts, negotiations and advertisements to be completed. So, we will have time to figure out why Trump asks for incriminating evidence from Ukrainian President but not from the FBI or former administration.

It is so interesting that you chose to discuss this topic in your blog this week! I know as a country, we are already very split on virtually any opinion relating to Trump and his presidency, so I do wonder how this impeachment process is going to go. While it isn't a great thing to happen, it certainly is an interesting thing that you're going to be able to experience while here in the states!
